Independent application with evidence.
Module: Network Operations
Activity type: Homework / independent application
Objective: Explain the difference between a package repository, package metadata, dependency resolver, transaction engine, installed-package database, and running services.
Choose one service on the host and write five service-specific health checks that would be performed after a future approved update.
Review upgrade-simulation.txt and list every kernel, bootloader, core library, database, container, virtualization, storage, authentication, or network-service package that deserves a maintenance note.
If the host uses APT, compare the Inst, Remv, and kept-back behavior between the conservative and full resolver sections. Explain every difference without applying either transaction.
Write a one-page recovery decision tree covering continue, pause, investigate, reboot, restore snapshot, restore backup, and rebuild.
Document how repository signing keys and third-party repositories are managed on the host without changing them.
Propose maintenance batches based on workload impact and dependencies, and clearly label the proposal as planning-only.
